Lots of New Election Information - Read, Volunteer, Share

Early Voting Starts in 10 Days!

1. Vote by Mail Application Information - why rejections, college students, and more -

How to Avoid Mistakes in the Vote by Mail Application Process: So far this year Dallas County Elections has rejected 473 or approximately 5% of Vote by Mail applications.

  • Most of those rejections are a result of either missing or invalid social security numbers or driver’s license numbers.  Please carefully write in both your social   security number and your driver’s license number on the vote by mail application form.
  • The other primary reason Dallas County rejects applications is voters who will be out of county (at college or on a business trip, for example) during the voting period, write an in-county address to receive the ballot. If you or your college aged child will be out of county during the entire voting period, the voter must use an out of county address to receive the ballot. College students can not have the ballot mailed to their parents it must be mailed to them at school. Those on business trips must use an address where they will be during the voting period.
  • And the last reason for some rejected applications are those who forget to sign the application. Sign your application!

You are able to track your vote by mail application process at the Secretary of State website, VoteTexas.gov (Track my Ballot). Dallas County Elections is working to cure rejections, including making phone calls to voters. If you still have questions, call Dallas County Elections at 214-819-6359 for more information.
