Thank you for engaging with the League and making it possible for us to defend the freedom to vote! 
 
The Board of Directors wish you, your family and guests all the best as you celebrate this holiday time together.  If they're from Texas, please have them fill out the Texas League voting survey (see below).  
  • 793,508 registered voters did not vote in November in Dallas County.   And we need your thoughts as to why.  Just reply to this email, or call or email a board member, or leave a message at the office. (214-688-4125).  All input is appreciated.

The Texas League of Women Voters is gathering information from across the state.  Please fill out the survey so we have input from Dallas County! It's easy to do and not very long.  Texas League Election Survey  Your input helps us improve our work with voters.  Thank you!

A special joint event with the Tarrant County League on "The Impact of Charter Schools and Vouchers on Texas' Independent School Districts."  To Register, please see flyer below.

LWVD Board Meeting 
 
3. Tuesday, December 6, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, on zoom 
LWVD will host Joe Larsen, open government attorney, for an in-depth presentation on your right to access public meetings. This presentation is in support of the work of Advocacy Committee volunteers who attend local government meetings as part of the Observer corp program. 
 
4. Tuesday, December 13, 11:30 - 1:00, and Thursday, December 15, 11:30 - 1:00

THE IMPACT OF CHARTER SCHOOLS AND VOUCHERS 

ON TEXAS’ INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICTS

An informational meeting

December 1, 2022

7 to 8:30 p.m. via ZOOM

 

Presenter: Ms. Patti Everitt is a consultant on state education policy with a focus on the impact of charter schools on public education in Texas. She works with parents and organizations to develop strategies that will increase the transparency and accountability of charter schools. Patti has led efforts for local, state, and national organizations to design and implement innovative education, employment, and health initiatives for youth.
