The City of Dallas is currently reviewing its budget, including decisions on how to allocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. We need a dedicated team to help track key budget issues, ensuring that we stay informed and ready to advocate effectively. If you're interested in joining this effort, please sign up—any information you can gather will be invaluable!

2. Monitor news sources for budget-related coverage.

3. Watch city council and community meetings to track discussions on funding priorities. City Council meetings are typically on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday. In person or online.

4. Identify budget committee members and check if their meetings comply with the Open Meetings Act.

5. Track key deadlines and meetings for the budget committee and City Council, especially opportunities for community input.

Register and educate voters at Samuel Grand Rec Center - indoors. This will be with Dallas Voting Initiative. They have requested one VDR certified in Dallas County. You will be working with Anthony Marshall of St. Luke's.

3. Watch Commissioner Court meetings and community meetings to track discussions on issues. Meetings are typically the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month beginning at 9am, except for July when the Court meets only on the first Tuesday. The office is moving, and we need a simple graphic of the building plan and path from parking to the office and conference spaces. Please refer to the time slot description for more information.

We are also seeking volunteers for these activities:

• a team wrapping the proclamations and framed posters and re-hanging in the new office.
• teams assessing the supplies. There are typical office supplies and tools, but we also have a lot of voter services material. Most of the material is boxed up. After the move we will appreciate help organizing the material in the new space.

If you would like to help with any of these other areas, please look for those volunteer opportunities.

The office is moving. The move schedule has changed to August 7 from 8 to 10am. Most of the material has been boxed up for the mover. I estimate it will take 1 meeting to complete boxing up material for the move.

After the move we will focus on unboxing supplies, figuring out what to have in the office and what to have at the storage unit. The goal is to complete this by August 15.

I have created a lot of time slots for this. Treat it like a Doodle Poll – sign up for all slots that work for your calendar, and I will let everyone know the winning times.

There are other teams helping with the move. If interested, please look for those volunteer opportunities:

• Thank you to Kenda and John for helping move and install all of the proclamations, resolutions and posters.
• a volunteer with graphics experience to adapt a map showing the path from parking to the new office.

Register and educate voters at an event at the Juanita Craft House. We will be partnering with Junior League for the “Ballots and Braveheart” event on Wednesday, August 6. The objective of this event is to honor the 1965 Voting Rights Act, as well as the 40th memoriam of Ms. Craft. 

Two volunteers wanted to greet attendees, check them on the registrant list, and hand them a box lunch ticket. There will be a registration table. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year Women's Equality Day will be at the downtown Dallas Public Library. The subtitle of the event is "Promises yet to keep". The speakers will emphasize unfulfilled promises and the need for local solutions.

Two volunteers wanted to receive tickets and hand out box lunches at the food tables.. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
